Job summary

Pfizer Inc. in Andover, MA is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist for Upstream Process Development. This mixed role balances mammalian cell culture work with developing automation software that controls lab processes and data infrastructure.

You will help advance manufacturing processes for recombinant proteins, contribute to Pfizer's bioprocess automation platform, and work with automation engineers, vendors, and scientists to harmonize lab operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 2-4 years' industrial experience, or Master's with 0-2 years in a relevant field
• Working knowledge of at least one programming language and a published code contribution
• Hands-on laboratory experience in cell culture or related lab
• Strong communication and ability to explain technical decisions to non-coders

Responsibilities

• Translate process understanding into control requirements; develop, test, and deploy control schemes, alarms, and UI elements on the platform
• Design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments in scale-down models
• Serve as technical owner for instrument platforms and integration work
• Support end-to-end delivery: version control, code reviews, testing, deployment, and monitoring
• Contribute to a safe, efficient lab environment and collaborate with a digital SME
