Piper Companies seeks an Upstream Process Engineer for a long-term contract in Holly Springs, NC. The role provides hands-on support for upstream bioprocess operations and serves as SME for critical production equipment, partnering across functions to ensure reliable manufacturing performance.

Ideal candidates hold a BE degree with 6+ years in biotech/pharma manufacturing, strong troubleshooting skills, and experience with DeltaV systems and GMP environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of process engineering experience in manufacturing, preferably biotech/pharma.
• Hands-on with stainless steel bioprocess equipment and upstream ops.
• Strong troubleshooting with process controls, automation, HMI, and equipment performance.
• Experience with deviations, investigations, change controls, and equipment improvements.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical support for upstream manufacturing operations.
• Lead troubleshooting for bioprocess equipment, automation, and process control issues.
• Manage investigations, deviations, and change controls to resolve challenges.
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Automation, Instrumentation & Controls, and Manufacturing teams to optimize reliability and production.
• Serve as equipment owner for media preparation systems and support upstream equipment (bioreactors, filtration, harvest, scale-up).
