Job summary
Piper Companies is seeking an Upstream Process Engineer to join a leading biotechnology manufacturing organization in Holly Springs, NC. This contract role focuses on hands-on support for upstream bioprocess operations and equipment ownership across bioreactors, filtration, harvest, and scale-up tech.
The ideal candidate has a chemical engineering background with 6+ years in manufacturing, strong troubleshooting skills, and DeltaV experience, plus a track record of managing deviations and change
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
- 6+ years of process engineering experience in manufacturing, preferably biotech/pharma.
- Hands-on with stainless steel bioprocess equipment and upstream operations.
- Strong troubleshooting with process controls and automation systems.
- Experience with DeltaV and distinguishing process vs automation issues.
- Experience managing deviations, investigations, and change controls.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day technical support for upstream manufacturing operations, ensuring safety and compliance.
- Lead troubleshooting of bioprocess equipment, automation systems, and control of process parameters.
