Job summary

Pearce Services is seeking an Experienced Critical Power Field Technician to support UPS systems, DC power equipment, and related critical infrastructure in Raleigh, NC and surrounding region. This role emphasizes preventive maintenance, emergency service, commissioning support, and troubleshooting in data centers and telecom environments.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of hands-on UPS experience, strong electrical skills, safety focus, and a willingness to travel.

Qualifications

Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience servicing UPS systems, battery systems, DC power equipment, generators, switchgear, data center infrastructure, or other mission-critical electrical infrastructure.
Experience with manufacturers such as Eaton, Vertiv/Liebert, Schneider Electric/APC, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, ABB or comparable critical power platforms preferred.
Strong understanding of AC/DC electrical theory, power distribution systems, and battery technologies.
Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
Experience using multimeters, power quality analyzers, and battery testing equipment.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical/electronic failures.
Strong customer-facing communication skills to explain findings and actions.
Commitment to safety, quality, and professional accountability.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within service territory, including overnight travel as required.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on UPS systems, battery plants, DC power systems, PDUs, STS units, inverters, and related equipment.
Diagnose electrical and control faults using schematics, manuals, and industry best practices.
Install, commission, and replace UPS systems, battery strings, monitoring systems, and infrastructure.
Respond to emergency service calls and restore systems safely and efficiently.
Conduct battery testing, capacity testing, failure analysis, and lifecycle replacements.
Complete service reports and customer communications accurately.
Develop customer relationships through technical expertise and responsive service.
Mentor junior technicians and support field training on safety and troubleshooting.
