Critical Power Field Technician (UPS Engineer)

Your Impact

Pearce Services/Unified Power seeks a Critical Power Field Technician (UPS Field Engineer) in Denver, CO and surrounding areas. In this role you will directly support customers in the onsite preventive, corrective, and restorative maintenance of critical power systems (UPS, DC systems, inverters, PDUs, STS, and standalone reserve battery technologies). You will bring a "hit‑the‑ground‑running" mentality, quick problem‑solving skills, and a customer‑focused approach to deliver swift and superb solutions.

Core Responsibilities
  • Install electrical equipment such as small rack‑mounted UPS equipment, various‑sized batteries, and UPS/Battery monitoring equipment.
  • Maintain battery cabinets and racks, maintenance bypass, battery monitoring equipment, DC systems, and other electrical equipment.
  • Perform periodic and lifecycle‑driven remedial services, including failure analysis and troubleshooting, component replacements and repairs, and battery string replacements and installations.
  • Build customer relationships and provide excellent customer service while upselling products.
  • Handle field troubleshooting calls and deliver satisfactory resolutions.
  • Respond quickly to critical situations.
  • Teach and mentor crew members on proper techniques for site work, troubleshooting, repair, and data analysis.
  • Isolate basic hardware, software, and interface malfunctions using various test equipment on multiple products and technologies.
  • Adapt to evolving duties in response to business and client needs.
Core Experience & Qualifications
  • Prior military training in electronics or avionics (A School, AIT, etc.) preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years in a third‑party critical power field service or technical support role with demonstrated progression, OR 5 years in an OEM service environment in the critical power space.
  • Good understanding of AC/DC electrical principles.
  • Knowledge of test equipment operation (multimeters, battery test equipment).
  • Ability to read and interpret electronics schematics and troubleshoot failures to the component level.
  • Experience enforcing compliance with FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations and standards.
  • Outstanding work ethic, punctuality, trustworthiness, and reliability.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to make timely, sound decisions amid fast‑paced priorities.
Physical/Work Environment
  • Must comply with OSHA and applicable DOT standards.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable record and successful pre‑employment drug screen.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 100 pounds for short durations, kneel or crouch periodically, stand for extended periods, and travel for multi‑day projects with per diem as required.
  • Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining 100% safety awareness.
  • Lifting heavy objects and stretching above the head occasionally.
Compensation and Benefits

$35,000 – $45,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Additional compensation may include performance and referral bonuses, production incentives, equipment and fuel stipends, company vehicle, per diem, and other benefits.
