Job summary

General Dynamics - IT (GDIT) seeks a seasoned Unix and Linux Manager to lead NIH CIT Hosting and Storage Services. This role combines people leadership with hands-on governance of enterprise Unix/Linux environments, ensuring reliable service delivery and modernization.

The position is hybrid with three on-site days in Bethesda, MD and requires obtaining and maintaining a Public Trust, including onsite fingerprinting.

Qualifications

• BS/BA or equivalent IT discipline required.
• Experience leading a technical team delivering Unix/Linux services.
• Staff development, recruiting, mentoring, and performance management experience.
• Experience leading technical projects from planning to delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day oversight for the team, delegating tasks and ensuring timely delivery of Unix/Linux services.
• Own and develop the technical strategy and vision for the service catalog, aligning with customer demands.
• Collaborate with Project Managers/Scrum Masters to communicate timelines, resources, risks, and status; step into project management as needed.
• Drive continuous improvement to deliver new services and modern ways of working.
• Oversee personnel management including recruitment, performance management, training, and mentoring.
• Coordinate incident resolution and post-incident communications and reporting.
