Job summary

Zurich North America seeks a Senior UA Manager to lead training and development for Underwriting Associates across the territory, supporting Financial Institutions and Public D&O teams. The role is based in New York or Chicago with hybrid work options.

You will coach teams, drive performance, and collaborate with producers and underwriters to improve processes, while building talent and ensuring client service excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field.
• 6+ years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area.
• Knowledge of the insurance industry and regulatory environment.
• Experience researching, compiling, analyzing and synthesizing data and metrics.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate, and develop Underwriting Associates across the territory.
• Assess underwriting processes and implement standard controls and practices.
• Engage with producers on status of new business, renewals and actions.
• Handle client service and account management tasks, including policy changes and billing questions.
• Participate in key account relationships in person or via teleconference.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and create development plans.
• Make staffing decisions and guide staff development.
• Foster cross-training and knowledge sharing across workflows.
• Build strong relationships and lead team huddles and meetings.
• Onboard and train new Underwriting Assistants and Underwriters.
• Act as SME for initiatives focused on continuous improvement and performance.
