Job summary

Zurich North America is seeking an Executive Underwriter or AVP Underwriting Director for Management Liability in Philadelphia. You will underwrite and grow financial lines (D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, Crime) with a strong sales mindset, building relationships with agents, brokers and customers. Hybrid in-office days are required.

The role emphasizes leadership, mentorship, and strategic opportunity development across distributors and clients, balancing appetite with growth and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in underwriting or market-facing area; or 10+ years in claims or underwriting support.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and time-constrained quotes.
• Strong communication, relationship-building and team collaboration.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice options with an Associate Degree and relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Administer underwriting rules, rating manuals, laws and regulations.
• Develop and maintain relationships with distributors and customers.
• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Mentor team members and support sales culture.
• Complete opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth.
• Make broker/customer on-site calls with planned purpose.
