Job summary

Optum seeks a Senior Underwriting Consultant to lead underwriting initiatives for employer and payer opportunities. Remote role collaborating with Sales, Account Management, Finance, and leadership to align pricing with enterprise objectives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of financial analysis, pricing, and/or underwriting experience, with healthcare exposure.
• 3+ years working for or with a Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM) or consulting PBM clients.
• Experience building complex financial models and conducting economic analyses.
• Experience underwriting financial offers for existing and prospective clients using forecasting methods.
• Experience developing and delivering presentations and communicating effectively.
• Experience working in a cross-functional environment with quick learning of new business areas.
• Progressive professional experience, preferably in underwriting, finance, healthcare consulting, or related field.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for financial modeling, forecasting, and ad hoc analysis.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and underwrite complex employer and payer opportunities with pricing aligned to risk and market dynamics.
• Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and risk analyses for new business and retention.
• Provide underwriting consultation to Sales, Account Management, Finance, and leadership teams.
• Review complex proposals and renewals, offering recommendations for profitability and growth.
• Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through utilization, claims, and financial performance.
