Job summary

ProAssurance is seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to execute strategic underwriting initiatives for our workers' compensation line (Eastern Alliance). The role supports accounts with premium under $50,000 or over $50,000, with a hybrid setup based in Charlotte, NC, or Raleigh, NC, or Richmond, VA.

Expect mentorship, collaboration, and leadership across underwriting teams. You will analyze risks, issue quotes, and manage renewals while strengthening agency and client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, insurance or related field is required; designations may replace it.
• Minimum five years of insurance underwriting experience; workers' compensation preferred.
• Proven ability to achieve targeted financial and operational results.
• Ability to earn underwriting authority and work independently.
• Strong ability to establish internal and external relationships.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Analyze risks for new and renewal business within approved authority and guide profitability decisions.
• Issue quotations, policies, renewals, endorsements, and required documentation with agency partners.
• Cultivate relationships with agents and risks and pursue new opportunities.
• Support ecovery initiatives and ensure wellness guidelines are followed.
• Lead team meetings to discuss large/adverse accounts and develop renewal strategies.
• Monitor book of business and facilitate collaboration among Underwriters, Claims, Risk Management.
• Review monthly reports and adjust actions to meet strategic goals.
• Mentor assigned Underwriters and participate in company projects.
