Job summary

ProAssurance seeks a Senior Underwriter to execute strategic underwriting objectives within our workers' compensation line (Eastern Alliance). Based in Charlotte, NC, or Raleigh NC / Richmond VA, reporting to the Charlotte office.

The role focuses on risk analysis, timely quotations, policy issuance, and strong agency partnerships, with opportunities to mentor others and lead key accounts; competitive salary range $66,229–$109,289 and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, insurance or related field required; eight years’ industry experience.
Five+ years of insurance underwriting experience; workers’ compensation underwriting preferred.
Active pursuit of professional designations (CPCU, CIC, CRM, etc.) is strongly preferred.
Ability to earn underwriting authority and work independently.

Responsibilities

Analyze risks for new and renewal business within approved authority to support profitability.
Issue quotations, policies, renewals, endorsements, and required file documentation with teams.
Cultivate strong agency and client relationships and identify opportunities.
Lead team meetings and develop renewal and account management strategies.
Monitor reports to ensure strategic initiatives are met.
Mentor assigned Underwriters and assist with associate underwriting.
Support company projects and participate in industry events.
