Beacon is seeking a Senior Underwriter to price and manage workers’ compensation for middle market to large accounts in MA/RI. You’ll engage with independent agents, develop profitable books, and negotiate terms and pricing while ensuring compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience in P&C insurance.
• Knowledge of workers' compensation underwriting principles and regulations.
• Agency and portfolio management experience.
• Ability to negotiate and sell; strong relationship building is highly desirable.
• Willingness to travel throughout the designated territory.
• Leadership skills to mentor others are desired.

Responsibilities

• Consult with agents and brokers to drive profitable growth and product placement.
• Serve as a liaison with agents and manage the portfolio of risks across agency and company.
• Research and evaluate risk, and issue proper pricing and coverage for workers’ compensation on complex accounts.
• Negotiate strategy, terms, pricing structures, and mitigation tactics while ensuring compliance with workers’ compensation laws.
• Use technology and your underwriting skills to generate flow and lead multidisciplinary service teams.
• Mentor and develop less experienced staff on technical underwriting aspects.
