Beacon Mutual Insurance Company is seeking a Senior Underwriter in the Warwick, RI area to underwrite workers’ compensation business and engage with independent agents. You will analyze risk, price coverage, and negotiate terms for middle market to large accounts predominantly in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

You will mentor colleagues, manage a portfolio of risks, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive profitable growth while adhering to regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field and 5 years of P&C industry experience
• Knowledge of workers' compensation underwriting principles and regulations
• Agency and portfolio management experience; ability to build relationships and negotiate/sell

Responsibilities

• Consult with agents and brokers to drive profitable growth
• Manage portfolio of risks across agency and company; participate in strategic meetings
• Research and evaluate risk; issue proper pricing and coverage for complex workers’ compensation accounts
• Negotiate strategy, terms, and pricing structures while maintaining risk quality and compliance
• Mentor and develop less experienced underwriting staff
