Job summary

Arbol, a global climate risk coverage platform, is hiring a Senior Underwriter to evaluate, price, and bind property and weather-related risks with a focus on wildfire. You will own submissions from first look through bind, collaborating with brokers, data science, and capacity partners.

This role requires strong experience in property cat risk, data-driven pricing, and the ability to shape underwriting guidelines as the team grows. Located in the United States.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in commercial property underwriting or related role.
• Solid understanding of catastrophe exposure and pricing.
• Experience in excess and surplus lines with wholesale brokers.
• Proficient with data, cat model outputs, and pricing tools.
• Ability to decline or restructure non-fitting business, with sound judgment.
• Clear written and verbal communication with brokers and teams.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and price property and weather-related risks across portfolio.
• Lead risk selection, aggregation, and capacity management.
• Develop market distribution and relationships with brokers.
• Review and price submissions for property, catastrophe, and parametric risks.
• Collaborate with data science to use models and exposure analytics.
• Structure parametric triggers and payout terms.
• Prepare underwriting files and pricing rationale for capacity partners.
• Mentor junior underwriters and analysts.
