Job summary

AXIS Capital in Chicago is seeking a Senior Underwriter for Private Company Management Liability (D&O, EPLI, Fiduciary Liability, and Crime). You will analyze, rate, and monitor new and renewal accounts, supporting a book typically exceeding $5 million in GWP.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in underwriting Management Liability with broker relationships, portfolio management, and market knowledge, plus willingness to travel and work from the Chicago office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 5+ years’ experience in underwriting Management Liability (D&O, EPL, FL and Crime).
• Direct background targeting insureds with revenues under $3 billion.
• Strong presentation and people skills.
• Ability to establish broker relationships within the region.
• In-depth knowledge of management liability products and market trends.
• Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong broker relationships.
• Experience with underwriting systems and risk modeling tools.
• Adaptability to changing market conditions and emerging risks.
• Team player with a collaborative approach and self-motivation.

Responsibilities

• Retain existing business while prospecting new opportunities in Private Company Management Liability.
• Manage a book of business with new lines, renewals, and cross-marketing (typically >$5M GWP).
• Meet servicing objectives: quote turnaround, policy issuance, phone management, renewals, and file maintenance.
• Analyze and underwrite risks, develop limits, retentions, pricing, and endorsements.
• Keep product and underwriting knowledge up to date.
• Prospect by identifying targets and work with retail brokers to secure proposals.
• Review new business per guidelines, advising on strategy and recommendations.
• Perform broker marketing calls and some out-of-state travel as needed.
• Solicit new accounts, gather market intelligence, and share department information.
• Manage select agency relationships to achieve objectives.
