Job summary

First Citizens Bank in Charlotte, NC, seeks a VP, Senior Underwriter Portfolio Manager for Middle Market Banking. You will lead underwriting from initial discussions to closing, structure deals, issue credit memos, and coordinate with borrowers, banks, and intermediaries.

In this role, you’ll monitor ongoing portfolio risk, perform post-closing modifications, and communicate insights to senior management. A formal credit training background and strong analytical, written and verbal communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 6 years’ credit analysis/underwriting experience, or high school diploma with 10 years’ related experience.
• Strong analytical and communication skills for presenting credit recommendations.
• Experience with commercial lending, owner-occupied real estate and enterprise value financings.

Responsibilities

• Lead underwriting from initial client discussions to closing, including structuring and memo preparation.
• Interface with Borrowers, Agent Banks, and Third Party Intermediaries.
• Participate in credit approval meetings with Credit Partners.
• Monitor post-closing risk, perform portfolio reviews and advise on risk management.
