Qualifications

• Minimum 6 to 8 years of commercial underwriting and portfolio management experience.
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent in work experience) required.
• Able to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documents; perform calculations and assess information to support decisions.
• Able to communicate clearly with senior executives, management, regulators, and partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead analysis, underwriting, origination, and portfolio management of loans in a growing commercial and corporate portfolio.
• Apply loan structuring, risk identification, and risk mitigation skills.
• Understand and apply the Bank’s risk grading methodology and credit appetite.
• Build relationships with Relationship Managers and CRE borrowers to develop lending proposals and cross-sell opportunities.
• Oversee post-approval due diligence and loan documentation.
• Maintain a portfolio mix of high value clients while ensuring credit quality.
• Mentor junior portfolio management team members and guide staff.

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Portfolio Manager to work with the Charlotte Commercial & Middle Market team. This role partners with local Relationship Managers and provides daily credit analysis, underwriting, and portfolio management support for assigned commercial and corporate borrowers. Tasks are completed in a fast-paced, production-based environment and include leading the loan structuring, underwriting, origination, and servicing responsibilities for their assigned loan portfolio. The incumbent works independently with support from other members of the team, providing mentoring and guidance to junior members of the portfolio management team and working closely with Credit Analysts. The ideal candidate works well in a team-focused setting and is comfortable balancing competing priorities in a deadline driven environment.

Daily responsibilities include:

• Leading the analysis, underwriting, origination, and portfolio management of loans in a growing commercial and corporate portfolio.


• Utilizing loan structuring, risk identification, and risk mitigation skills


• Understanding and application of the Bank’s risk grading methodology and credit appetite


• Managing relationships with theability to understand both C&I and income-producing real estate (CRE) borrowers.


• Partnering with Relationship Managers to call on current or potential clients; understands and identifies needs for commercial products and services; develops lending proposals; identifies cross-sell opportunities.


• Oversight of post-approval due diligence requirements and commercial loan documentation preparation.


• Building and maintaining a portfolio mix of targeted high value and high potential clients, ensuring credit quality and portfolio servicing are maintained in an acceptable manner.


• Partnering with junior members of the commercial team to delegate tasks related to the origination and servicing of the loan portfolio.


• Providing feedback and guidance in order to develop the skills of these teammates.

Required experience, educationand skills:

• Minimum 6 to 8 years of commercial underwriting and portfolio management experience


• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent in work experience) required.


• Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documents; performs simple to complex calculations; effectively researches, analyzes and evaluates information to make decisions, solve problems and achieve goals


• Ability to read and listen, understand and communicate information and ideas in a clear and understandable manner, both orally and in writing with senior executives, business unit management and staff, state and federal regulators and officials and significant business partners


• Accurate typing, spelling and grammar skills.


• Strong computer skills required with the following programs: Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and highly proficient skills with Excel.


• Strong written and oral communication skills.


• Strong organizational and customer service skills.
