Job summary

Susser Bank in Texas seeks a seasoned Senior Underwriter with deep expertise in C&I and CRE lending. This in-office role underwrites complex middle-market credits across Texas, carries a deal load, and mentors junior analysts on the credit team.

The candidate will interact with relationship managers to structure credits that win business while protecting the bank. The role requires 7–10+ years of underwriting experience, strong Texas market knowledge, and excellent written/presentation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
• 7–10+ years of progressive commercial banking underwriting experience.
• Experience with both C&I and CRE credits.
• Strong knowledge of the Texas market across multiple industries and property types.
• Advanced financial spreading and cash-flow modeling.
• Formal credit training strongly preferred (RMA CSL, Omega, Stonier, or bank equivalent).
• Excellent written and presentation skills with concise credit narratives.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite C&I and CRE credits and relationships ranging from $3M to $50M+.
• Perform full financial analysis and cash flow on borrowers, sponsors, and guarantors.
• Conduct in-depth CRE analysis including NOI/DSCR, appraisals, leases, and env reports.
• Assess risk, management quality, collateral adequacy, and assign dual risk ratings.
• Prepare comprehensive credit approval memoranda with risks, mitigants, and covenants.
• Present credits in credit committee and defend recommendations.
• Mentor junior underwriters and credit analysts through deal reviews and training.
• Contribute to credit policy refinements and portfolio monitoring.
