Job summary

Strittmatter Companies in Virginia- area is seeking a skilled Utility Estimator to join our civil construction team. This role focuses on preparing accurate cost estimates for underground utility work, ensuring a smooth transition from bid to build.

You will analyze drawings, perform quantity takeoffs, and develop estimates for labor, materials, and subcontractors, collaborating with Superintendents and Project Managers to refine constructability and sequencing.

Qualifications

• 3+ years estimating experience focused on underground utility construction
• Ability to interpret civil utility drawings, profiles, and details
• Familiarity with trench safety and permitting in VA/MD/DC
• Proficient in evaluating subcontractor and vendor pricing

Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings, specs, and site conditions for utility scope
• Perform quantity takeoffs for water, sewer, storm drain, and related infrastructure
• Develop comprehensive cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subs
• Collaborate with Superintendents and Project Managers on constructability and sequencing
• Prepare clear proposals, bid forms, and supporting documentation
• Evaluate subcontractor pricing for scope alignment and accuracy
• Track multiple bid opportunities and deadlines
