Job summary

R-2 Contractors, Inc. seeks an Underground Trenching Superintendent to oversee day-to-day field operations for nationwide projects, coordinating crews, equipment, and schedules to deliver safe, high-quality trenching and conduit installation.

You will read drawings, manage Foremen and field teams, and ensure safety, quality, and on-time project execution while traveling nationwide as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in underground utility, trenching, heavy civil, or utility-scale construction.
• Minimum 5 years leading underground trenching operations as a Superintendent or Senior Superintendent.
• Extensive knowledge of high-production trenching, conduit installation, single-pass laying, trench safety, and restoration.
• Experience managing Tesmec trenchers, Vermeer trenchers, rock saws, and cable lay box systems.
• Strong ability to read project drawings, layouts, and construction documents.

Responsibilities

• Lead field operations for utility-scale trenching and conduit installation projects.
• Plan manpower, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and production schedules.
• Supervise Foremen, operators, crafts, subcontractors, and field teams for safe, productive execution.
• Oversee trenching, laying, installation, bedding, backfilling, and quality control.
