Job summary

Nevada Gold Mines is seeking an Underground Senior Engineer for the Turquoise Ridge Underground Mining department. The successful candidate leads short term mine planning and design and manages a small team of engineers to support a world-class underground ore body.

Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, surveys, and cost estimates, plus development of project plans and metrics to improve operational efficiency. A BS in Engineering with 5+ years in mining is required.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Engineering and 5 years of experience in Mining required.
• Ventilation experience preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of mine design and scheduling required.
• Technical communication and presentation skills required.
• Expert knowledge in engineering and design are required.
• Mining or heavy mineral industry experience required.
• Project management skills are Preferred.
• Ability to operate efficiently in MS Office applications, Deswik software suite and VentSim required.
• Strong communication and team fostering skills required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
• Plan and conduct surveys, tests, or investigations, interpret results, and prepare recommendations, summaries, schedules, and cost estimates. Meet with representatives of other departments to coordinate planning and scheduling activities.
• Perform work which involves conventional engineering practice but includes a variety of complex features, such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
• Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities. Devise new approaches to problems encountered. Work requires originality and judgment in the independent evaluation and resolution of problems.
• Create and analyze metrics to determine operational efficiencies and growth prospects.
• Create an environment of trust and respect with other departments at the operation.
• Manage and be accountable for the workload allocation and generated products from the site engineering and survey team.
