Job summary

Ochsner Health System in Gretna, LA seeks an experienced ultrasound technologist to perform advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures in collaboration with staff radiologists. You will mentor junior staff and students, ensuring safety and adherence to protocols.

Candidates should have CAHEA-approved training, RDMS or registry eligible within 1 year, and BLS. Flexibility for varied schedules is required; familiarity with radiology IT systems is a plus.

Qualifications

• Completion of a CAHEA approved formal training program in diagnostic medical sonography.
• Preferred 2 years of sonographer experience.
• RDMS or registry eligible within 1 year of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

• Verifies physician order and procedure to ensure accuracy.
• Uses radiology information systems to facilitate care.
• Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
• Operates imaging equipment to complete procedures per protocol.
• Reviews patient images for diagnostic quality.
• Performs quality control and compliance tasks.
• Assists in departmental operations (inventory, schedules, equipment maintenance).
• Adapts communication and explanations to patient population.
