Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. seeks an experienced UI/UX Design Specialist to craft intuitive, accessible dashboards and analytics interfaces for government-focused applications. You will translate user research into prototypes, collaborate with data/engineering teams, and ensure compliance with Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA.

The role emphasizes human-centered design, usability testing, and integration with Agile/SAFe workflows, with remote work options in a federal context.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of general experience in information systems and 8+ years of specialized experience in UI/UX design
• Expertise in usability testing methodologies such as heuristic evaluations, card sorting, and A/B testing
• Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (Figma, Sketch, Axure, Storybook, or similar)
• Strong understanding of Agile/SAFe delivery, iterative design integration, and DesignOps/UX governance practices
• Familiarity with HTML5, CSS3, and responsive UI behavior to collaborate with front-end developers
• Experience designing for federal systems with Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA compliance

Responsibilities

• Design intuitive, accessible dashboards, self-service reporting interfaces, and predictive analytics screens
• Translate UX research, personas, and journey maps into high-fidelity prototypes and interface design specs
• Partner with BI architects, data engineers, product owners, and developers to align visuals with data models and KPIs
• Conduct usability testing and apply findings to sprint refinements
• Define and maintain visualization and navigation design standards for consistency
• Design UX for AI/ML interfaces with explainable model outputs
