Job summary

SMX is seeking a creative and technically skilled UX/UI Design Engineer to join our Solutions team. You will design and build intuitive user experiences for federal planning and analytics products built on SAC, AWS and other platforms.

This remote role supports a Washington, DC based customer and requires a federal clearance. You will conduct user research, create wireframes and prototypes, and develop front-end components using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS while collaborating with SAC developers

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in HCI, UX, CS, or related field.
• 5+ years designing and developing UI/UX for enterprise web apps, especially financial planning apps.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS; experience with front-end frameworks.
• Strong portfolio showing design and delivered front-end code.

Responsibilities

• Conduct user research and translate findings into UI requirements.
• Create wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes and maintain design system.
• Build front-end components and SAC widgets using JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
• Design data-dense planning interfaces and dashboards.
• Ensure accessibility and performance for large datasets.
• Support demos, usability testing, and defect resolution during implementation.
