Job summary

Synergy Business Innovation & Solutions (Synergy BIS) is seeking a UI/UX Specialist to bridge design and functionality for USCG projects. You will shape user-centered interfaces end-to-end, translating complex requirements into intuitive experiences while aligning with a shared design system.

You will collaborate with developers across the full SDLC, perform user research and usability testing, and ensure accessibility with Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA as baselines.

Qualifications

• Experience designing enterprise, operational, or data-dense applications.
• Strong foundation in interaction design, information architecture, and visual/UI design.
• Experience building and maintaining design systems and reusable component libraries.
• Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles, plus ability to communicate with developers.
• Knowledge of Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA.
• Familiarity with design tooling such as Figma; Penpot or Framer is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end user experiences, including research, information architecture, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and production-ready UI.
• Translate complex, data-heavy workflows into clear interfaces without oversimplifying decision logic.
• Create and maintain a shared design system and component library for consistent patterns across applications.
• Partner with developers to support faithful implementation, providing specs, assets, and design tokens.
• Conduct user research and usability testing with client and end-user stakeholders, and apply findings to iterative improvements.
• Gather and document design requirements with clients and SMEs unfamiliar with design terminology.
• Design with accessibility using Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA as baseline standards.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies across the full SDLC.
