Job summary

GitLab is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Duo CLI team within the Developer Clients group. You will design and build tools that integrate GitLab Duo into developers' terminal workflows, primarily using TypeScript across frontend and backend components.

You'll provide technical leadership, maintain high code quality, and collaborate across the wider AI Clients stage to align with GitLab's long-term strategy while contributing to IDE extensions as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and CLI design.
• Experience with CLI tools and developer tooling.
• Experience owning technical problems end to end, guiding others.
• Clear written and spoken English communication in remote environments.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, and evolution of GitLab Duo CLI features.
• Build interactive terminal experiences in TypeScript with careful command design and backward compatibility.
• Drive reliability, observability, and performance improvements for the CLI, reducing technical debt.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and engineers across Developer Clients and AI Clients stage.
• Champion product quality, security, and developer experience through reviews and mentorship.
• Contribute to IDE extension work across JetBrains and VS Code as needed.
