Job summary

GitLab seeks a Staff Forward Deployed Engineer focused on AI and Agentic SDLC to help define and build the GitLab Duo Agent Platform. You will design agent workflows, context systems, and integrations while collaborating directly with customers and product teams.

You will shape platform capabilities, evaluate models, ensure safety and governance, and mentor teams across engineering disciplines. This is a remote, international role with strong leadership expectations.

Qualifications

• Staff-level engineering experience with complex production systems.
• Deep experience designing and building AI systems, with ability to debug and optimize.
• Strong understanding of agentic systems, contexts, retrieval and tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and build agentic systems across models, context, and orchestration.
• Develop knowledge systems using retrieval-augmented and graph-based approaches.
• Engage with customers to turn needs into working AI-enabled solutions.
• Contribute production-quality changes across the GitLab Duo Agent Platform.
• Evaluate system quality, cost, timing, and safety, embedding governance.
