Job summary

Steel Ceilings, Inc., a subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries, in Johnstown, OH, is seeking an Amada turret press operator. You will set up, operate, monitor, and maintain turret press equipment to produce sheet-metal parts meeting specs, with emphasis on precision and quality.

Candidates should have strong mechanical skills, the ability to troubleshoot on the line, read basic drawings, and perform in-process inspections.

Qualifications

• Prior hands-on experience operating CNC turret presses, punch presses, or similar sheet-metal fabrication equipment required; experience with Amada turret press equipment strongly preferred.
• Ability to read work orders, shop drawings, and basic mechanical prints.
• Ability to use standard inspection and measuring tools accurately.
• Solid understanding of CNC machine operation, tooling, material properties, and sheet-metal fabrication practices.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations involving fractions, decimals, measurements, and tolerances.
• Strong attention to detail, safety, quality, and production requirements.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders, drawings, setup instructions, and material requirements before production.
• Verify material type, thickness, dimensions, quantity, and condition.
• Load turret tooling, punches, dies, and forming tools per job setup documentation.
• Inspect tools for wear or damage before use.
• Install and align tooling and verify tool identification.
• Load material safely and program revisions correctly.
• Perform first-piece run and obtain approval before full production.
• Operate turret press per work instructions and production schedules.
• Monitor feeding, punching, forming, and scrap removal for quality.
• Adjust operating parameters to maintain part quality and efficiency.
• Package, label, and stage finished parts per order.
• Document production data and downtime for continuous improvement.
