Job summary

The Town of Needham, Needham Heights, MA, seeks dependable Van Driver for the Aging Services Division. This on-call, part-time role transports senior citizens from their homes to the Center at the Heights and other local destinations such as grocery stores and pharmacies, roughly 19.5 hours per week.

Under the supervision of the Transportation Program Coordinator, you will perform vehicle safety checks, logs, and light maintenance.

Qualifications

Valid MA driver's license with clean record.
High school diploma or GED.
Reliable, communicate effectively, and interact tactfully with elderly population and the public.
Familiarity with smartphones, GPS, and basic office tech (email, etc.).
Ability to lift or move up to 20 lbs. and assist passengers.

Responsibilities

Provide safe transportation to senior citizens.
Assist senior citizens with access to and from vans used in transportation activities.
Load grocery bundles or other passenger packages into and out of vans during grocery/errands/trips.
Perform daily vehicle safety inspections. Maintain vehicle trip, mileage, and inspection logs.
Ensure light vehicle maintenance is conducted according to schedule.
Pass and maintain mandatory training and certifications.
Performs related duties as assigned.
