Job summary

City of Everett seeks a part-time Transportation Aide to operate a 12-passenger van (wheelchair lift) and transport adults 60+ to and from The Connolly/Senior Center. The role may include longer field trips (30-90 minutes one-way) and requires safe driving and courteous, patient service.

You will inspect and fuel the van, assist passengers, complete rider logs, and help with light tasks at the Council on Aging.

Qualifications

Completion of high school education or GED.
Experience driving a passenger van and familiar with all safety precautions.
Valid Massachusetts Class D driver's license and good driving record.
Training: Passenger Assistance Training; Defensive Driving; CPR/First Aid; Substance Abuse Awareness Training.

Responsibilities

Inspect the van prior to operation to ensure safe operating conditions; notify supervisor of issues.
Fuel and maintain van; keep it clean and presentable.
Pick up and drop off passengers at designated locations.
Assist passengers to board, ride and exit the van; secure wheelchairs when needed.
Operate vehicle safely; obey traffic laws and regulations.
Complete rider logs and essential paperwork; report accidents immediately.
Meet motor vehicle safety requirements per OSHA standards; report safety deficiencies.
May assist with light physical labor at the Council on Aging center.
May schedule pickups and confirm reservations with passengers.
