Job summary

HNTB in Arlington, VA is seeking a Group Director to lead a multi-discipline design and delivery team. You will manage budgets, staffing, and quality, while collaborating with office and division leaders on strategic plans and pursuits.

Responsibilities include supervising 25–40 staff, coordinating workloads, coaching staff, and ensuring on-time delivery and client satisfaction across projects in infrastructure. A PE license and PMP are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering with 12 years of practical experience including 4 years of supervisory experience

Responsibilities

• Directs and supervises the development and management of operating budgets for the departments within the Group and coordination with the office's budget.
• Oversees the group activities, establishes priorities and assigns staff to projects; collaborates on work-sharing needs.
• Drives strategic plan and SSA process on project pursuits and markets with the Group and office; develops strategic planning strategies.
• Drives contracting (SCA) process through project delivery and contracting activities including scope, work plan and fee reviews.
• Drives SDA process including Work Planning, Monthly Project Reviews and other project performance methods to ensure quality work on time.
• Assists in marketing responsibilities, including client discovery, proposal generation, interviews, and win-to-work activities
• Maintains client contacts to ensure client satisfaction; leads and assists in sales and marketing for department growth
• Assists in development and execution of office strategic plan; may participate in Office Leadership Team
• Recruits, hires, develops and retains department staff; supports managers with staff plans, performance and compensation reviews
• Manages project management activities (scope, schedule, budget, quality) and performs technical tasks (research, reports, design, specifications)
• Leads a group including direct and indirect supervision of 25–40+ employees
• Performs other duties as assigned
