Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking an experienced Transportation Project Manager to support our Gulf Region, spanning Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. The role requires 5+ years in traffic or roadway design, a valid Alabama PE license, and proficiency with major design software.

You will manage projects from planning through execution, coordinate with clients and subconsultants, and lead junior staff. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, with occasional travel to project sites.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree required.
• Minimum 5 years of transportation engineering experience with progressive responsibilities.
• Alabama Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Experience with industry software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, InRoads, ArcGIS, Synchro, VISSIM, SIDRA, or HCS.
• Proficiency with MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage project schedules and travel as needed.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide project management and plan review for Volkert clients in Alabama.
• Organize activities, schedules, and reports for transportation projects.
• Lead or assist in developing project designs and guide designers to deliver work.
• Provide technical design guidance on roadway design, traffic operations, signals, and transportation planning.
• Prepare studies, documents, and reports; manage contracts and change orders.
