Job summary

NV5, Inc. in New York seeks a Department Manager to lead its NY-based Traffic Planning/Engineering Group in NYC and Long Island. You will guide projects from conception to construction, grow the regional practice, and mentor staff.

The role requires NY-licensed PP/PE, AICP, and 10+ years in traffic/transportation engineering, with strong communication skills for public meetings and client coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CE or related field; master desirable.
• Min 10 years in Traffic Planning/Traffic/Transportation Engineering.
• Licensed PP and/or PE in NY, or reciprocity.
• AICP certification.
• RSP or PTOE certification preferred.
• Familiarity with NYCDOT standards.
• Local project experience desirable.
• Supervising experience; QA/QC required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills for public and client presentations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Traffic Planning/Engineering group and grow the regional practice.
• Manage business development, proposals, scopes of work, and work-hour estimates.
• Assist with traffic impact studies and transportation planning reports.
• Develop MPT plans and traffic signal design plans.
• Support roadway improvement studies and public meetings with clients.
• Prepare comprehensive plans and zoning regulations/form-based codes.
• Coordinate public engagement: surveys, meetings, stakeholder interviews.
• Develop transportation planning strategies for communities in NY and NJ.
• Conduct environmental reviews (SEQRA/NEPA) and EIS where applicable.
• Manage multiple assignments with QA/QC and deadlines.
