Job summary

City and County of San Francisco is seeking a Transportation Planner III (Senior Project Planner) for the Train Control Upgrade Project (TCUP) within the SFMTA. You will oversee procurement, deployment, installation, and testing of the new CBTC system, guiding planning and budgeting activities across multiple teams.

The role requires a Master’s degree in a related field and experience in transportation planning or a bachelor’s degree with four years in the field.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Planning, Transportation, Public Administration or related field and two years of transportation planning experience, or a bachelor’s degree with four years of transportation planning experience.
Experience in public sector procurement, contract administration or project management is desirable.
Strong analytical, written and oral communication skills; ability to manage multiple assignments.

Responsibilities

Develops and maintains the capital plan for TCUP, coordinating with funding agencies and SFMTA planning staff.
Forecasts expenditures and maintains project cashflow based on schedules and resources.
Supports grant applications and reporting to finance and funding agencies.
Helps prepare procurement plans, policies and procedures for the train control system upgrades.
Supervises and directs junior planners and coordinates with contractors and internal stakeholders.
