Job summary

San Mateo County Transit District seeks a Manager of Positive Train Control (PTC) to lead engineering and oversight of the PTC system for Caltrain. The role is responsible for configuration management, interface integration, and development of technical specifications, standards, and maintenance plans.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronic engineering, computer science, or related field, five years of PTC experience, and two years of supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of professional railroad PTC experience or related field.
• Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
• Possession of a valid California license as a registered professional engineer is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Caltrain PTC train control systems are functioning for FRA interoperability.
• Provide general technical oversight of PTC systems and performance analyses.
• Manage PTC product vendor and its support service; perform vendor annual reviews.
• Manage all PTC related assets.
• Collaborate with Rail Operations to minimize service impact.
• Represent Caltrain for all PTC communications with FRA; ITC guidelines.
• Oversee PTC integration with Back Office and On Board systems.
• Ensure PTC systems are compatible with AAR standards and ITC guidelines.
