Job summary

VHB seeks a Transportation Planner or Engineer - Project Manager to join our Virginia Transportation Systems team. The role involves leading multimodal projects, mentoring staff, and collaborating with public and private clients to improve mobility while balancing development and environmental stewardship.

The candidate should be 11+ years into transportation planning/engineering with a strong technical foundation and the ability to mentor and manage programs in the Virginia market, including

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning or related field.
11+ years in transportation planning/engineering; consulting experience preferred.
Professional planning certification (AICP) or PE required.

Responsibilities

Lead multimodal transportation projects including corridor studies, safety audits, and operations analyses.
Review technical traffic engineering work and manage safety-focused planning efforts.
Develop technical memoranda, reports, graphics, and presentations for diverse audiences.
Support development of transportation policies and programs for Virginia communities.
Lead public and stakeholder engagement, including workshops and online engagement.
