Job summary

At AtkinsRéalis in Denver, Colorado seeks a Senior Transportation Planner/Engineer to lead transportation planning and traffic engineering studies for local municipalities, state DOTs, and federal clients.You will oversee microsimulation analyses, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and mentor staff while shaping study approaches and delivering clear recommendations.

The role emphasizes strong analytical, communication, and project-management skills with opportunities for growth across projects

Qualifications

• Bs./Ms. in Civil Engineering or related field and 8+ years in transportation planning/traffic engineering.
• Experience leading FHWA/NEPA studies and transportation modeling.
• Ability to communicate technical findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong writing, presentations, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead or project manager for transportation planning and traffic engineering projects.
• Lead or oversee complex analyses including microsimulation and performance assessments.
• Provide guidance to junior staff developing models and documentation.
• Develop and refine analytical methodologies, assumptions, and documentation.
• Interpret complex findings into actionable client recommendations.
• Support corridor studies, multimodal analyses, and NEPA documentation.
• QA/QC reviews for analyses, modeling, and deliverables.
• Lead client meetings, workshops, and stakeholder discussions.
