Transportation Planner Job Description

Ready to make an impact on your career, client projects, and the community? Burgess & Niple is currently seeking a Senior Transportation Planner to join our Columbus, OH office.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the growing national safety practice and work on projects in Ohio and across the country
• Lead the development of Vision Zero Action Plans, Regional Safety Plans, Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Plans, Vulnerable Road User Assessments, Strategic Highway Safety Plans (SHSPs), and other safety planning efforts
• Perform and review safety analyses
• Advise on projects involving the Safe System Approach (SSA), proven safety countermeasures and strategies, and the Highway Safety Manual
• Attend conferences to share knowledge with safety professionals across the country
• Assist with the development and mentoring of junior staff to help them grow into safety professionals

Skills and Qualifications:

• Completion of a 4-year degree in Urban/City/Regional Planning, Geography (urban), Civil Engineering, or similar
• 7+ years of experience in Traffic Safety planning or related studies and analysis
• RSP Certification preferred
• Expertise in the Safe System Approach, Vision Zero, and other safety principles, along with project management skills
• Proven verbal, presentation, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to learn virtual collaboration tools
