Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Transportation Engineer for our client, a leading urban planning and engineering consultancy, to work in Upington, Northern Cape. You will analyze transportation networks, develop plans, and use traffic modeling tools to improve safety and mobility for the region.

The role requires a BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering with a transportation focus, 5+ years' experience, SA policy knowledge, and proficiency with VISSIM, SIDRA, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering with a transportation specialization.
• Professional ECSA registration preferred (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng).
• Minimum 5 years in transportation engineering, traffic analysis, and network planning.
• Proficient in VISSIM, SIDRA, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of South African traffic legislation and policies.
• Experience in urban transportation planning in the Northern Cape is advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct traffic studies including counts and origin-destination surveys.
• Develop traffic management plans for new developments and existing networks.
• Model traffic flow using traffic simulation software.
• Design road geometry, intersections, and signals.
• Prepare planning reports, feasibility studies, and impact assessments.
• Collaborate with municipal planners and engineers.
• Contribute to integrated transport plans for the Upington area.
• Ensure designs align with national road safety standards.
