Placements24 is assisting a dedicated engineering consultancy in recruiting a Civil Engineer for Upington, Northern Cape. You will contribute to planning and preliminary design of water, sanitation, and road infrastructure to benefit municipalities in the region.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering with 4+ years' experience and familiarity with SA standards. CAD proficiency and willingness to travel are essential; opportunity for growth within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional registration as Pr Eng or ECSA Pr Tech Eng is preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in civil engineering, with exposure to municipal projects.
• Knowledge of basic water, sanitation, and road design principles.
• Familiarity with relevant South African standards and municipal planning processes.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and basic project management tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel within the Northern Cape region for site visits and client meetings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies and conceptual designs for municipal infrastructure projects (water, sanitation, roads).
• Develop preliminary designs, drawings, and cost estimates.
• Assist in the preparation of tender documents and specifications.
• Liaise with municipal clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
• Perform site investigations and data collection.
• Collaborate with other engineers and technicians on project tasks.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national standards and local by-laws.
• Provide technical support during the initial stages of project development.
• Contribute to the development of integrated infrastructure master plans for municipalities in the Upington area.
