Job summary

Chesterfield County Transportation Department is seeking a Transportation Senior Engineer to lead multiple construction projects from inception through construction, including design and right-of-way work. You will review development plans and coordinate with county departments, state agencies, and private developers to ensure timely delivery.

The role requires managing schedules, budgets, and contracts, with strong communication and public meeting leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, transportation planning, or related field.
• Four years of relevant experience in road construction/design; two years of land development review.
• EIT certification or PE license is preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills are critical.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple construction projects through inception, design, ROW acquisition, utility relocation and construction.
• Review and provide recommendations for commercial and residential development plans.
• Manage schedules, budgets, and contracts; coordinate with county departments, state agencies, private developers and consultants.
• Lead in-person Public Information Meetings and communicate with the public and officials.
