The Chesterfield County Transportation Department is a small but mighty team of professionals with diverse talents who work together to achieve a common goal: creating a safe, efficient, multimodal transportation network for residents and visitors to the county.
The team designs, manages, and coordinates the scoping, development and delivery of roadway and bike/pedestrian projects with a total budget of over $500 million.
The team also reviews new commercial and residential development in the county and provides recommendations to mitigate impacts to the existing network.

The part-time Transportation Senior Engineer will focus on managing multiple construction projects through inception, design, right-of-way acquisition, utility relocation and construction. As part of the Transportation team, the Senior Engineer will also review and provide recommendations for both commercial and residential development plans. Responsibilities include managing schedules, budgets, and contracts; and working with county departments, state agencies, private developers, engineering consultants, regulatory agencies, and the general public. As a public servant and key member of this dynamic team, the Senior Engineer will handle a variety of work that keeps every day interesting and rewarding, with accomplishments that affect the daily lives of individuals who work, play, and reside in Chesterfield County. Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points with the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out-of-state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at the time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of the interview date.
