Job summary

VHB’s New York City office seeks a Senior Transportation/Traffic Planning Engineer with strong Vissim modeling capabilities and 11+ years of experience to join our Mobility group. This role focuses on complex city transportation, mobility, and infrastructure projects including roadways, rail, streetscape, and private development.

The position offers a hybrid work model in NYC, with opportunities to lead multi-disciplinary teams and coordinate with NYC agencies.

Qualifications

• 11+ years of professional transportation planning/engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in transportation planning, civil engineering or related field (master’s degree a plus).
• AICP or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Strong Vissim modeling capabilities.
• Experience with major NYC-area agencies preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop mobility and transportation planning solutions for a variety of projects.
• Perform traffic impact studies.
• Develop and calibrate traffic microsimulation models (Vissim) and explain results to clients.
• Lead design of traffic improvements and road/intersection concepts.
• Coordinate with clients, agencies, and partners on project deliverables.
• Prepare technical memoranda and reports.
• Lead meetings with stakeholders and manage project tasks.
• Deliver analysis findings and recommendations collaboratively.
• Serve as task leader on small to mid-size projects
