Job summary

VHB's New York City office is seeking a Senior Transportation/Traffic Planning Engineer with 11+ years of experience to join our Mobility group. The role focuses on complex NYC projects, including roadway and rail improvements, streetscape upgrades, and major development initiatives, with strong Vissim modeling capabilities in a hybrid work setting.

You will develop and calibrate microsimulation models, prepare technical memoranda, lead client meetings, and mentor staff on large-scale

Qualifications

• 11+ years of professional transportation planning/engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in transportation planning, civil engineering or related field.
• AICP or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; master’s may substitute for 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop mobility and transportation planning and engineering solutions for multiple projects.
• Perform traffic impact studies.
• Develop, calibrate, and explain traffic microsimulation models (Vissim, VISWALK, VISUM) for client scenarios.
• Develop, analyze, and evaluate traffic improvements.
• Research transportation data and demographics to assess mobility needs.
• Prepare conceptual roadway/intersection designs and pedestrian/bicycle paths.
• Prepare and review technical memoranda and reports.
• Lead meetings with clients and stakeholders; present findings and recommendations.
• Serve as task leader on small to mid-size projects.
