Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR in Chicago, IL seeks a Senior Transportation Engineer to join an established engineering consultancy.’s team to support Phase 1 engineering, feasibility and planning for a major infrastructure program.

The role focuses on early-stage project development before detailed design, with emphasis on transportation planning, feasibility analyses, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to shape project scope and transportation outcomes.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Background in roadway, highway or traffic engineering.
• Experience with Phase 1 engineering and early-stage project development.
• PTOE certification highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support Phase 1 engineering and transportation planning for a major infrastructure project.
• Contribute to feasibility studies, planning activities and early-stage project development.
• Evaluate roadway, highway and traffic considerations during the planning process.
• Analyze existing transportation conditions and help identify potential project impacts.
• Support the development and evaluation of potential transportation solutions.
• Contribute to technical reports, planning documentation and feasibility assessments.
• Work with multidisciplinary engineering and planning teams throughout project development.
• Apply engineering judgment to identify transportation constraints, opportunities and potential improvements.
• Support coordination with clients, agencies and other project stakeholders.
• Contribute technical expertise to projects from planning and feasibility through future design phases.
