Job summary

Egis seeks an experienced Transportation Engineering Lead to provide senior technical leadership and project management for Phase I studies in Illinois. You will oversee preliminary engineering, feasibility analyses, and environmental documentation for IDOT and Tollway projects.

As primary client contact, you will direct multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and ensure compliance with BDE/NEPA standards while advancing a portfolio of high-impact transportation initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois is required.
• 12+ years of progressive transportation engineering experience, with Phase I emphasis.
• Proven experience leading IDOT and Illinois Tollway projects.
• Extensive knowledge of Phase I Engineering, NEPA documentation, and environmental coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead Phase I transportation engineering projects for IDOT, Illinois Tollway, and municipalities.
• Manage preliminary engineering and feasibility studies for highways and multimodal systems.
• Direct alternatives analyses, corridor studies, and concept development.
• Oversee preparation of Phase I engineering documents, technical reports, design studies, and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across roadway, structures, traffic, drainage, environmental, and geotechnical disciplines.
• Serve as the primary client contact with IDOT, Illinois Tollway, local agencies, and stakeholders.
• Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for engineering deliverables.
• Lead project planning, scope development, budgeting, scheduling, staffing, and risk management.
• Participate in public involvement meetings, agency coordination meetings, and stakeholder presentations.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers while supporting business development initiatives.
