Senior Transportation Engineer / Chicago Office Lead (Chicago, IL)

Accurate Group, Inc. (AGI) is a Minority-owned engineering consulting firm specialized in infrastructure design projects at Phase I, II, and III. We are known to provide expert service to our clients, implementing workflow strategies to manage design projects, and meet our client’s needs. AGI has a solid project portfolio on the Structural and Roadway design disciplines with multiple key contracts currently in place.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Transportation Engineer and Chicago Office Lead, based in our Chicago, IL office. This position will provide transportation planning and design services for projects throughout Illinois. The ideal candidate will be a team player and possess an Illinois PE license with at least 18 years of experience with an emphasis in transportation design and/or planning. The successful candidate will work closely with their supervisor, project managers, engineers and designers.

As the Chicago Office Lead, you will play a key role in growing the local practice, developing client relationships, pursuing new opportunities, and providing technical and project leadership. The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge of transportation infrastructure and a demonstrated ability to lead projects, collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to business development.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Chicago office lead and help establish and grow the firm’s presence in the Chicago transportation market.
  • Lead and manage transportation engineering and/or planning projects from concept through completion.
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance on transportation design, planning, and related infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with public-sector and private-sector clients, agencies, and industry partners.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities throughout the Chicago region and Illinois.
  • Participate in proposal development, interviews, presentations, and other business development activities.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and staffing plans.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineers, planners, and other project staff.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and other offices to deliver high-quality projects.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, professional organizations, client meetings, and community engagements.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant transportation standards, regulations, design practices, and industry trends.
  • Support strategic growth of the transportation practice in Chicago and throughout the region.

Required Experience

  • 18+ years of professional experience in transportation engineering, transportation planning, or a combination of both.
  • Current Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading transportation projects and/or technical teams.
  • Strong understanding of transportation engineering principles, practices, and applicable standards.
  • Experience working with public agencies, municipalities, DOTs, or other transportation stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated client relationship and business development experience.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability and willingness to serve as a visible leader and representative of the firm in the Chicago transportation market.

  • Existing relationships with transportation agencies, municipalities, and/or private-sector clients in the Chicago area.
  • Experience developing proposals and winning transportation work.
  • Previous experience managing or mentoring staff.
  • Experience with transportation design software, planning tools, and related technical applications.

Pay

  • $145,000 to $187,000 based on experience
