Job summary

The City of Flagstaff seeks a Transportation Engineer Senior to manage complex transportation engineering projects, evaluate traffic operations, review plans, analyze data, and develop practical solutions involving signage, striping, signal timing, and parking for residents and visitors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with transportation focus.
• Five (5) years of experience as a Transportation Engineer, Transportation Planner, or similar.
• Arizona Professional Engineer (PE) registration, or current PE registration in another U.S. state.
• Valid driver's license.
• Any combination of relevant education and relevant experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Provides high-quality customer service to internal and external customers.
• Determines traffic and parking control needs and approves work orders for City sign & paint crews.
• Communicates and presents to City commissions and advisory committees.
• Prepares policies, guidelines and procedures for Transportation Engineering staff.
• Reviews development plans for compliance with traffic engineering standards.
• Determines scope of transportation impact analyses for private development and capital improvements projects.
• Plans and manages community outreach sessions on public improvements and neighborhood traffic topics.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering

Arizona PE registration or current PE in another U.S. state

Valid driver's license
