Job summary

Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) is seeking a Principal Engineer to support its Freeway Life Cycle Program within the Transportation Division. You will manage scopes, schedules, and budgets while evaluating design, costs, risks, and performance for major urban studies.

You will coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, present findings at public meetings, and guide consultant teams in a large metro context. The role emphasizes leadership, communication, and policy engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • At least five years of related work experience in engineering, freeway and roadway design and/or planning.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Responsibilities

  • Managing scopes, schedules and budgets of transportation planning studies.
  • Assessing and evaluating transportation infrastructure design, functionality, cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Developing alternative approaches to respond to transportation and traffic needs.
  • Coordinating with key stakeholders for project design and implementation efforts.
  • Public meeting presentations and facilitation of working group sessions.
  • Presenting study outcomes to MAG member agencies and MAG policy committees.
