Job summary

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Senior Highway Engineer to join our Highway & Rail Team in Providence, RI, and other MA locations.

You will lead complex highway and rail projects, mentor engineers, and deliver high-quality transportation solutions focused on safety and performance. The role requires a PE license, 10+ years of experience in highway design, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering; PE license preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years progressive engineering experience.
• Highway/roadway design experience required; hydraulic design preferred.
• MassDOT design experience required.
• PE license required.
• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation and related tools.
• Strong QA/QC procedures and engineering law understanding.
• Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional societies involvement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical execution of complex highway/rail designs, reports, and specifications.
• Provide expert consultation and resolve highly complex technical issues.
• Lead advanced projects and collaborate with other departments to deliver sustainable solutions.
• Develop and manage discipline work plans aligned with milestones and budgets.
• Mentor junior engineering staff and provide technical reviews.
• Prepare proposals and deliver external presentations to clients and regulators.
